Good Friday, everyone. All eyes continue to be on the potential for a high wind and severe weather event this Sunday into Sunday night. The Storm Prediction Center has the entire region in the slight risk area, with the highest chance for severe weather right on top of us…

SPCHere’s a breakdown…

– A strong cold front sweeps eastward across the state Sunday evening into the overnight hours.

– Lines of showers and thunderstorms will race eastward ahead of the boundary.

– Damaging wind will be the primary threat. There appears to be just enough shear for a quick tornado spin up… especially across the west and northwest.

– Winds will be very gusty with or without thunderstorms. Gusts of 40mph+ will be likely.

– This system reminds me a bit of the Halloween storm that brought high winds to this entire region. Similar to that event… we may not see a lot of lightning showing up.

The action will wind down quickly from west to east Sunday night and Monday morning as much colder air surges in here.

Looking down the road… the pattern is loading up with a lot of winter for the last of this month into November. I will be highly surprised if we don’t have another snowfall before this month is over. If you like cold and snow… you should really like this setup.

Have a great day and take care.
