Good Saturday afternoon, all. The potential for strong and severe storms is increasing for Sunday and Sunday evening. This threat includes damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes.
The Storm Prediction Center continues to outline much of the state in a moderate risk…
This is only the 11th Day 2 Moderate Risk in the past 15 years in November.
Sunday looks to start out with scattered showers and thunderstorms blowing up across the region. Isolated severe weather will be possible with the early day action. The simulated radar from the NAM shows this action…
We should get a break in the action during the early and middle parts of the afternoon. This isn’t a good thing as a line of thunderstorms approaches from the west. This line is likely to produce widespread damaging winds as it rolls across the state into Sunday evening…
There’s enough shear for us to be concerned for a few tornadoes spinning up within the line. We will also have to watch for any thunderstorms going up just ahead of the line.
I will have updates as needed. Take care.
Looks like the threat is creeping northward.
Looks like Indianapolis,Bloomington,Fort Wayne,Terre Haute,Detroit, and Columbus are more in the line of fire tomorrow than we are. Not saying we won’t have severe weather but they really look like they will get the worst of it.
Ugh, I’d MUCH rather be discussing a Winter Storm Watch instead of Tornado Watches. I know…little early in the season for a WSW, but December is only a few weeks away.
Yea I was thinking the same thing why can’t we get snowstorms here not severe weather watches tornadoes are not anything I want to ever see again depressing to say the least
Not exactly a good short-term sign; for this evening and the overnight hours, the Storm Prediction Center has unfortunately increased the tornado potential in far western Kentucky from 2% to 5%.
It will be very interesting what the next update for SPC’s Outlook will reveal (next update at 6am Zulu/1am Eastern/midnight Central). The NAM model in particular is showing continued instability during the overnight hours. Goes to show that you don’t need sunshine to destabilize the atmosphere, as severe wx can strike even in the hours before sunrise. However, if there is widespread clearing tomorrow early afternoon, things could get even more nasty.
What about Southern Kentucky? I know north and west central Kentucky is in Moderate risk. I hope it doesn’t get too bad. I’d rather deal with wind gusts than tornadoes.
Southern KY will hopefully escape some of the worst stuff. But seems somewhat too close to call at this point. That’s partly why I’m eagerly awaiting the next SPC update.
I share your concerns; I live/work in Nashville, but my wife’s family is in Bowling Green. Indeed, my better half and I attended the Lady Racer vs Lady Topper game at Diddle Arena earlier today (I’m a WKU graduate, the wife a Murray State alumna).
Storms in N.Missouri may go tornadic. Could be the start of the outbreak.
Am I right in thinking we are expecting any tornados here until tomorrow evening and night?
not expecting
Can’t rule out an isolated twister or two very early Sunday. Strong destructive straight-line winds may be the main issue, though.
But the main tornado threat will indeed be Sunday evening with the second wave of t-storms.
Mark what about morgan co do u think we will see a big tornado threat
That’s nice, I hope you guys stay safe. I live Williamsburg and hope we escape with hardly anything. This won’t be anything like March 2nd, 2012 will it? I’d rather be talking about snowstorm. I’m currently going to a technical college. I’m planning on transferring to WKU, UK, or EKU.
Beautiful sky tonight. The moon playing hide and seek with the clouds and a warm breeze blowing. Makes me want to just stay outside and look at it.
Northern Indiana,Ohio,Southern Michigan probably put under high risk at some point. Maybe with the next update. That’s the area that has the highest tornado risk. We can still get an isolated tornado here but damaging winds are our greatest threat. Might want to say a prayer for the people up that way. It’s not looking good for them at all.
