Oh, CB, what a teaser….I just moved..I no longer get Ch. 27 on Cable because…I now have Dish… 🙁 Will you post this online somewhere?
Nicki on November 20, 2013 at 3:01 pm

Hey Please post your forecast for those of us who can’t get WKYT. If I could I would always watch your weather forecast but not in your area. I used to watch you on WSAZ. We miss you.

Some of us out here are working during the 5 and 11 News. So I guess we lose out.

For those of you who do not recieve WKYT, you can stream it live on their website.

I just watched it second ago via livestream. Thanks, Chris!
I didn’t even know CB was doing his winter forecast until about 10 minutes before Chris came on. Lucky I pulled up the KWC website when I did.
Don’t get me wrong, as I like a couple of the local Nashville tv mets – especially Ron Howes and Lelan Statom on WTVF (same station/studio that produced Hee Haw back in the 1970s 😉 ). But it’s hard to beat Chris! Seems I’m far from the only one outside of WKYT’s traditional viewing area that is a CB fan!

Chris is basically calling for a normal winter in snow and a pretty cold January!
BubbaG on November 20, 2013 at 9:01 pm
If “normal” is based on the rolling average of the past years, we will have the usual ankle biters, near misses and big systems that do hit us: mainly rain, mix and a little snow.
Hopefully CB is wrong like last year’s snow forecast (snow shovel talk last year), but now the opposite direction 🙂 Hey, most mets were wrong and so was I. That is why I retired from Bubbacasts. Last year broke my spirit and will.

While no one wants the risk of widespread power outages, bet snow lovers in our area still feel a sting about how south-central Tennessee and northern Alabama of all places got up to 16 inches of snow from one storm in January 2011.
Muscle Shoals looked more like Minneapolis or Montreal 😉 .
Mark on November 20, 2013 at 10:09 pm
Sure, that was an above average year for snow in our area. But as Bubba has mentioned before, that winter was mainly a bunch of ankle biter snows that happened to really add up.
Mark on November 20, 2013 at 6:44 pm
Meanwhile, slight chance of thunder for far western areas of KY/TN on Thursday and Friday. But the good news is that the Storm Prediction Center is holding the slight chance of severe wx well to our west and southwest.
By the way, NWS Paducah, NWS Louisville and NWS Nashville survey teams have reported on the recent tornadoes here, here and here. The twister that hit Paducah KY and Brockport IL was an EF3 that traveled nearly 50 miles. That’s about the same distance the Salyersville, KY twister traveled on March 2 2012 (the West Liberty tornado went nearly 90 miles).

As an old lady, I’m ready for cold!! Thanks CB!! THere’s bound to be some white stuff with all that cold!

Oh cool – I missed it, but went to the website and saw it.
Thanks Chris!!

So, Chris thinks this might be the first year since 1996 we set a record low in the winter. That’s almost 20 years since we had one! Here are my five most likely candidates. December 5: Record low is 11 December 4: Record low is 10 January 4: Record low is 0 February 6: Record low is 0 February 15: Record low is 2
Mike on November 20, 2013 at 9:03 pm
OK – here we go… Chris has Madison county running from 10 – 22 inches (The line between 10 -16 and 16 – 22 runs through the northeastern part of the county). IBIWISI In my 9 years the most we have ever had in any one year is maybe 8 inches. We probably haven’t had 12 TOTAL in any two consecutive years… The most at any one time is perhaps 6 inches. I put it down to the fact that snow fall or lack of can be very local. There have been many times where we had 1 -3 inches and 10 – 15 miles north and west there was 6 – 8.
I will give it a couple of misses before I go on about my respect for Chris and the mets AND the lack of reliability and lack of self correction in the winter modeling.
Well, lets wait and see…

Man oh man, you should have been at EKU in the late 70’s and early 80’s where we had huge snows (one almost 2 1/2 feet!). As a Virginia native, it was incredible!
Jeff Hamlin on November 20, 2013 at 10:22 pm
My winter forecast: higher than normal chances of BubbaG and the usual from rolo who changes his mind more than a woman changes clothes. 😉

ack! I missed it. I was busy making Venison Pie! I hope that you will post it on line. pretty please 🙂
