Good afternoon everyone. Snow continues to fall across northern and eastern Kentucky early this afternoon with a mix and even some cold rain for parts of central and southern Ky. Snow totals have been impressive and I am happy with the snow forecast we had out.
As our clipper scoots to our east… cold air will quickly work in from the north and change any mix back over to snow. We have one more batch of snow to go through this evening that will work from northwest to southeast. This can lay down more light accumulations. With temps dropping into the 20s this evening… roads will become icy.
Track the flakes here…
Our focus will soon turn toward snow showers and heavy snow squalls moving in later Sunday into early in the new week. The snow ratios with these bad boys will be very high so we can get some good snow out of this… especially in the east. More on all that later this evening.
Here is just a sampling of the snow pics I have received…

Thanks for all the pics and I will try to get more on later. You guys keep doing what you do and updating the weather and road conditions from where you are.
Updates as needed… take care.

Well, Chris, as usual, we here in southern KY got the shaft on snow….we got about a half hours worth, and it covered the ground, but then it changed to rain, and now it is just cold, damp and wet….~sigh~
Just a skift of snow on the ground here in southern Rowan County, kind of dissapointed to say the least, snow has been falling most of the day just not a lot of accumulation.
What are the odds of Morehead still getting that 2-4″?
Oops, posted this on the last update so I will repeat it here. I am just reporting totals at our home. It has finally stopped snowing here at my home in Lexington (Gardenside area) and when we last measured on a few flat surfaces, all were over 4.5 inches – in fact one area was without doubt 5 inches! We are in one of those areas that never seems to match up with the official totals of either rain or snow, so I am not surprised that we are different from other reporting locations across Fayette. Hope everyone stays safe and warm in this! Thanks to Chris for always being there for us!
Has snowed most of the day at times harder than others. We did have a switch to rain for a bit here in northern Lawrence County. Ground has been covered a few times only to disappear. However, this last little shower has given us close to an inch on the ground. Still not sticking on the roads much at all. Maybe this band tonight will give us enough to give everything a good blanket.
I can vouch for Strummer’s totals — I’m off Mason Headly and we received well over 4 inches on all our patio furniture.
Snow total in silver lake area of Frankfort(Franklin Co. H School area) about 3.5 in. so far 4.00pm (Chris said 2 to 4 in. in his last call Snow Graphic!) Chris 2, snow dome 0:)
Prediction of 1″-3″ right on the button here in Lawrenceburg, at 11:30, before melting started…had 3″, maybe a touch more….now a mix of snow/drizzle/sleet…..
Thanks Chris! Looks like light snow again in Lexington… was sleeting briefly earlier. I’m about to head back to campus so I’ll post again later.
u was spot on BAILRY BOY, TY as usual ole buddy.
maybe a big one mid month.
could someone tell coach CAL we need to recruit some SIZE!! the fact is ENOS is only one player, its disturbing that UK has no depthj at CENTER and FORWARD.
Maybe a half an inch in Grayson.
about 4 inches here in Waco.
I posted to the last blog entry just before a new one came out so here it is again…
I need some advice. I am planning to purchase a “weather station” for my science class.
I want one that can take all the basic readings, record historic data (highs and lows, precip amounts, wind speeds, pressure… over a period of days or weeks. I also would like the system to be wireless and allow the data to be posted online so students can view it in other rooms or at home. Any advice?
Someone suggested a Davis Vantage product? Would it work with “Weather Bug”? Should that be an issue to consider?
Thanks.
Forecast worked out perfect here in Anderson county. Snow all morning, rain/snow mix in the afternoon, and now going back to all snow. 2-3 inches on the ground. In the final 48 hours leading up to the storm, the models did an excellent job again with the freezing line.
Final snow batch just beginning here in Lawrenceburg. Hope to get another half inch or inch out of this one!
Snowing in Nicholasville again.
Dry slot has opened up in the latest radar returns just N of Frankfort. 3 plus inches is still a good start to winter, additional snow or not.
Well, we got about an inch in beautiful Crab Orchard. Chris, you’re a awesome weather dude. Keep up the fantastic work.
Fat flakes falling in Lexington.
This post didn’t seem to make it so I M “reposting”…

Another question: Davis or weather bug for a school?
Thanks.
About 4 inches in SE Lex. over near Jacobson Park. It’s been a long time since I had to get the snow shovel out this early in the winter. Gotta love those over acheiving clippers. Chris called it though. Way to go, Chris!
R U ready for finals?????
Chris, you are da man! Spot on forecast. Light snow falling here again and slush freezing up.
Why isn’t LMK extending the winter weather advisory? There is obviously going to be a huge probllem with frozen slush and black ice.
Since it all began till now there has been near 2 inches at my residence near the Boyle/Garrard county line. With about 1 inch on the ground. Not much in the way of rain today but sleet and temps checked accums. I was in Harrodsburg this afternoon and seems it was much the same. In the big city of Burgin for the Christmas parade about 6pm with light to moderate snow falling. Back here at home at 7:10pm very light snow and 31*.

We have had some snow fall today but nothing thats on the ground (thanks to the mix)Id really like to eaither get snow or get nothing lol… thanks guys!
I’m looking for a site that will give me snowfall totals. NOAA will give me a total but it is on a 24 hour period. I need a site that will give me a total not based on a 24 hour period. Trying to work with a property management company that has no clue what they are doing.
Here on the south side of Lexington,(Landsdown neighborhood), I measured 4 inches.Keep up the good work Chris you are the best!
hey me..look outside… 🙂 …. its snowing again in Barbourville!!!…big flakes too, or at least it is here in Bimble…maybe we can make up for a LITTLE lost time…

I am focusing on OLD SCHOOL storm around mid month or so,

not sticking on this side of the fence Tim although it is snowing Lex did well on the snow i was up there most the day
Chalk up another win for Ol’ Bailey! Great job with the forecast! Here in Wilmore we ended up with between 3-4″ (possibly a little more) now have 2-3″ on the ground due to slight melting and some settling. We briefly touched 33 degrees this afternoon, but was pretty much an all snow event here! We had Wilmore’s Old Fashioned Christmas tonight and it was perfect with snow on the ground and BIG fluffy flakes in the air!
that is covered in special weather statements.
Snowing again in Pikeville we have had at least 3 inches and went to a dinner come out roads terrible black ice in lots of places be careful.
Maybe this is what you’re looking for.
