Good snowy Saturday everyone. Our first widespread snow producer of the winter is upon us and will dump some decent snows for many across central and eastern Kentucky.I have the blog in tracking mode with lots of goodies for you to track the progress of the wintry blast.

Before we get to the tracking toys… here is a brief breakdown of what to expect…

– Snow will be breaking out early this morning across much of the region and will quickly work east.

– Parts of south central and western Ky will see a rain/snow mix that will change to rain then end as snow. Farther north and east… it is all snow for a lot of people.

– There is a good amount of lift with this system and I expect the snow to come down at a very good clip for a few hours.

– The main snow shield will taper off from northwest to southeast from lat afternoon into the evening hours. Snow showers would then be around later tonight into Sunday morning before squalls kick in by afternoon.

How much snow am I expecting? Given the amount of lift I am seeing… I decided to raise totals a bit for many areas…

If we do get those totals to verify… that would mark a very nice little snowmaker… especially for the first one of the season.

Let’s get to the tracking toys…
