Good afternoon to one and all. The first widespread winter weather event of the season is just about upon us as snow will be streaking into the state overnight. Our clipper continues to be well behaved and the track I laid out several days ago looks to have been a good one.

This low will track southeastward through Missouri then east across Tennessee to off the Carolina coast by Saturday night. This will lay down a swath of accumulating snows across much of central and eastern Kentucky. A Winter Weather Advisory is out for much of the region through Saturday and into Saturday night in the east…

My snow forecast hasn’t changed much from the last update…

Snow will overspread the state from northwest to southeast later tonight. The snow will mix with and even change to rain in the west and south central areas into midday Saturday. This would then change back to snow by evening. Farther east and north… all snow is expected.

I want to stress this map is through Saturday night only. Additional snow showers and squalls will push in Sunday and continue through the middle of next week across the eastern half of the state. These will lay down more snow with the potential for several inches of the white stuff across the east. VERY cold temps will be with us as well.

A full update late this evening with a final call for snowfall. I will use twitter for updates between now and then. Take care.
