Good Tuesday evening. Wow… what a wet day across much of the state! Heavy rains have been falling across central and eastern Kentucky all day and it is causing some flooding issues. Numerous counties across southern and southeastern parts of the state are reporting flooding. Rain totals are already more than 3 inches in several counties with another inch or so to fall this evening. Please keep an eye on the creeks and streams.

The other news is the cold air that is surging in from the west. This is now VERY likely to catch the back edge of the rain across the eastern half of the state changing it over to a period of snow later tonight. Temps will plunge into the upper 20s by morning and we could see things ice up in some areas. Throw in some snow and you can get some slick travel in the morning.

The rain will slow it’s eastward push some over the next several hours as a wave of low pressure develops along the front. This should help the cold air catch up and you can follow the transition here…

Highs Wednesday will hang around the freezing mark for central and eastern Ky with upper 30s to near 40 in the west.

I will update things on twitter, which you can also find on the new twitter feed in the top right hand corner of the blog.

A full update will come your way later tonight.Take care.
