Good Saturday afternoon, gang. Here’s hoping the blog finds you enjoying this cold, December day. The next round of winter weather is on the way to the bluegrass state tonight into Sunday. This will be another wintry mix maker that will cause travel troubles for much of the state.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is now out for much of the state for tonight into Sunday. Here’s a look…

Warnings

We may see a few more counties added to that with before the day is finished.

Moisture streams in from southwest to northeast after midnight. Temps will be below freezing area wide, but a warm layer aloft complicates precipitation type. While everyone starts out as some freezing rain, sleet and snow, the south and southeast should see temps go above freezing early Sunday morning. That means more rain takes over.

The 32 degree line will gradually work northward during the day and many areas may see the change to rain before evening. Here’s a look at how this may play out…

SpecialJust like last time… with varying precipitation types, amounts of any one type could be greater or lower. The worst case scenario would be for all this to fall in the form of freezing rain. That would have a bigger impact. I do not think that happens, right now. Instead, we get a bit of everything.

With temps and road temps colder than before the last system moved in, the impact on travel will be much greater into central and eastern Kentucky… especially during the morning hours.

Another round or two of winter weather is possible late Monday into Tuesday.

Make it a great day and take care.
