ood evening, gang. Another day of significant winter weather is in the books here in the bluegrass state. A nasty ice event played out in many areas, and a thumping snow hit parts of the area. Now what?

Temps continue to hover around 32 degrees from the Lexington metro and points north and west. We continue to see patchy drizzle and freezing drizzle in these areas. The next slug of moisture is working in from the south, but the heaviest of that will be in the east and southeast where temps are well above freezing.

Some of that will creep into central parts of the state and some light icing will be possible tonight into Monday morning. Track it…

Current temperatures

Norther parts of the  state may not get above freezing at all tonight or Monday. Untreated roads will continue to pose a problem.

Southeastern Kentucky has a night of heavy rain ahead and that may cause additional high water problems. Please keep a close eye out on water levels in these areas through Monday.

Another wave will work into the region late Monday night and early. Light snow is likely for much of the state and we could be talking about some light accumulations. Southeastern Kentucky has a chance to end this whole thing with a few inches of snow on the ground. I will have much more on that potential later tonight.

Arctic shot moves in by the middle of the week and may throw some flurries into the mix. That sets the stage for a system to roll eastward to our south by the weekend. The GFS is not to be trusted in this type of a setup from this far out. The European Model continues to show the potential for a period of snow from this…

EuroIt’s what may come in behind this for next week that is already getting my attention. I will share that with you later tonight.

Take care.
