Good Wednesday evening gang. Is the weather busy enough for you yet? If not… hang tough and settle in for a heck of a show coming up over the next few days as we go on a wild ride. The temps and precipitation type will take center stage from Thanksgiving into Friday.

In the short term… some sleet did mix in with the rain earlier today across northern Kentucky. This didn’t cause too much of a problem since temps were just above the freezing mark. A month from now and this would have been an ice storm.

Heavy rain will be a big concern tonight into Thanksgiving across western and northern Kentucky where Flood Watches are in effect. The rain tonight and Thursday will be much more concentrated across this area and you can track it here…

Temps tonight will warm rapidly from south to north. By morning… temps will range from near 60 in the west to the mid and upper 40s in the north.

Current Temps

Here is a quick update on the rest of the forecast period….

– Warm and windy for Thanksgiving day. Highs will hit the 70s in the south and southeast under partly sunny skies. Highs in the north and west will be much cooler.

– The cold air slams in here Thursday evening into Friday morning as a cold front crosses the state. Temps will drop more than 30 degrees as the boundary blows through. By Friday morning… readings will be in the mid and high 20s.

– A big time band of rain and some thunder will be along this front. The cold will catch the back edge of it and change this over to a period of sleet and snow. This should only last a few hours in most areas and will quickly scoot away Friday morning.

– It will be hard to get anything to stick Thursday night and Friday morning. Some elevated surfaces can get a quick coating. Wet roads and temps in the 20s Friday morning can mean some slick spots.

– Highs Friday will stay in the low and mid 30s with a gusty wind making it feel like the 20s.

Back to the present… from tornadoes to flooding to snowstorms… the country has it all on this Thanksgiving Eve. Take a look at all the advisories that are out…
