Good Monday evening. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is now out for much of eastern and southeastern Kentucky. This does include parts of the bluegrass region from late tonight into the first half of Tuesday. Here’s a look…
This will be a quick hitting system that has a big impact on the morning commute… especially in the south and east. Here’s how much snow may fall:
If we get a little more interaction between a disturbance to the west and the surface low to our southeast, higher amounts may be realized. That will be the focus of my eyes as the evening wears on.
Have a great evening and take care.

good see bailey picking up on what IVE BEEN saying for hours, both disturbances looking like they wanna play ball. looking at things I still believe that.
Sure looks like they want to meet up right on top of Ky. Interesting.
So r u seeing northwestward shift or am I just being hopeful??
The result of huge slabs of ice falling five stories click here). Ouch!
Yep, radar now picking up on winter precip to our west. Perhaps a little mix near Memphis.
In addition to eastern and some of central Kentucky, parts from southwestern, central and northeastern Tennessee are also under a Winter Weather Advisory.
Loving that, Somerset is in the snow….thanks so much
Whats up with the whole “Blowtorch” thing? Bryant, you made that up? We all understand your point, no need to mark your words because they’re already tattooed in our brains because of how many times its been mentioned. It’s getting old now
I agree with your statement 100%
And I agree with your agreement of my statement 300%
LOL. And I agree with your agreement of Andy’s agreement of your statement 500%.
And I agree with the agreement that Bubba agreed with Rolo to agree with…….zzzzzzzzzzz. 😉
aggrrreeeegagughhhzzzhhzzzzzzz….? Is it spring yet?
I agree 200%.
Nope, my bubbacasting days are done and I am following Blowtorch’s credo of Fighting then men and Loving the women. It is much easier and lots more fun 🙂
I just need a mullet.
Dupe post. Ironic, considering some folks can’t do any! I still need a mullet.

Just want you fellow weather weenies to stay grounded. I’ve seen the good, the bad and ugly. Out winters are in ugly mode
Tales of the Mullet.
I see I’m in moderation prison. The blowtorch will prevail
I know the site you”re getting your info from..Those Mets were calling for a blowtorch for November and pretty much all of December..See how that turned out…Bottom line you can look at all the Indices you want but mother nature is the only one who knows whats gonna happen in the future..
Ready4Snow, I have seen some call for this warmer weather as well (guess we could call it a blowtorch). And it was November, December, January. Some that I had read did say they expected the second half of the winter to be cold and snowy on the east coast and southeastern U.S. Seems they missed November and are on pace to miss December.
As for indices I thought I read somewhere that they favored a colder winter but that has been a while and I am thinking late summer is when I read that.
You must embrace it and grow a mullet! Only then will you be free! I’m goin’ to Disney World!
I am peering toward the darkened sky straining to see if the dome has set up over southern Madison County this evening. Only time will tell. lol
Rolo if you jinx us you have to buy us all Hardees
folks look at that moisture moving towards S/SE KY,MMMMMMM going see HEAVY SNOW FALLING early morning. FUNKY LIKE A MUNKY and its only getting stronger.
Considering the majority demographic for population in this blog is central KY, the southeast emphasis has an interest factor equal to that of watching the Golden Girls. No offense to Betty White 🙂 Or south east KY 😉
Just saying what I feel. I am One with the mullet!
HUH??? LOL. Just kidding. I am 63, live a little north of Hazard, and I LOVE to watch the Golden Girls. LOL.
You may be talking about people who actually participate by typing in the blog. I know a LOT of people from S.E. Kentucky who read this blog and count on it. 🙂
I wasn’t talking age, but the brain killing blah of the show, Golden Girls. It hurts my mind!
LOL!
ANDY ill buy us all steak or whatever, only way we miss is if TEMPS mess it up.
Nah, virga will 😉
Don’t forget the dry slots 😉
hey CHRIS, I know u are on dinner break but whats ur thoughts on this S slug and north slug as u see it now. THE totals look to be MUCH more for central parts as that a nice moderate stream heading in as well.
I’m wondering and thinking the SAME thing rolo!!
This happens way too many times, a huge slug of snow coming, then bang! It all disappears when it gets to our area in 5 minutes.
I’ll bet their some Virga envolved when it gets to central KY, Hey throw in a dry slot or two for good measure (or a bad meausre 😉 ) good luck south east KY, hopefully it works out for ya this time?
Rolo is hyping something. Bubba please help! 😉
Rolo is in Winter mode now. It is best to let him just finish.
NWS discussion talked about a winter storm warning for morning commute time for SE and E KY. Any thoughts???
THE SNOW WILL LIKELY COME DOWN QUICK FOR SEVERAL HOURS ACROSS THE AREA RIGHT BEFORE THE MORNING-SCHOOL COMMUTE. ACCORDINGLY…WE HAVE HOISTED A
WSW FROM MIDNIGHT THROUGH THE MORNING ACROSS THE AREA…LINGERING THE ADVISORY IN THE FAR SOUTHEAST THROUGH MID AFTERNOON TUESDAY.
Radar filling in heading into the over drenched (no snow yet) areas of SE KY. Bring it on. Let’s get this moving!
Any chance the heavier snow will move slightly north east?
Think i’ll set my alarm clock to 4:00 am…Make sure there’s no one running around with mullet’s and blowtorch…Whatever that means…No offense to Joe Dirt..
Don’t forget the free steak!
be snowing before 4am in S/SE KY more like 1-2 am
it will be snowing 1-2 hour rates by 5 in morning.
How much you say we get rolo…I say a shocker with 8-10…Of course Im winning Mega millions tomorrow..
temps will have to EVAP COOL quickly as it still in upper 30s, but heavy precip should take care that.
Just what we want..EVAP COOL will bring ungodly amounts..
Upper 20s here in Danville.
Chris likes the Nam and has no changes, NWS in Jackson hyping this more, Interesting for a change of pace anyway??
Well we’ve had tons of rain and some ice. A beautiful snow would be great right about now. 🙂 I think I’ll try to stay awake until the snow starts tonight. Anyone know about what time it should start in the Hazard area? Oh, and again, thank you Chris for all your hard work.
well the moisture for 4 plus inches going be here, so a WSWARNING is warrented.
Wish we had a ‘like’ button. I like.
CB say only subtle changes to forecast, so not a storm by any stretch. Not enough juice.
True.
Is anything reaching the ground anywhere? Nowcasting now in session.
yeah can somebody for the western part of the state give us a report
from instead of for
Suppose to drive from Lex to Prestonsburg for a meeting at 9:00am tomorrow. Starting to think we might need to reschedule that!
WW
Scanning channels on TV and ran across the beginning of Dragnet. You remember what that sounds like right? “Dome-tuh-dome-dome, dome-tuh-dome-dome-dooome.”
I have no idea what it will do, I guess only ‘The Mullet’ can know for certain, but it would be a pleasant surprise to wake up and see a blanket of white for a change.
I have a feeling that central Ky. may get more out of this than expected. Anyone else seeing this? In Harrison County it is below freezing already and the moisture looks to be headed this way?
Kuuuwuuh!! Darth Bubba is ready to destroy the hopes of the Rebel Snow Lovers. The Dry Side of the Force shall be victorious! He and his Blowtorch buddy Darth Mullet shall become intoxicated with the tears! They call it Snowshine.
I have a question by looking at the Radar now it looks like snow for central and north Ky but for se Ky it looks like sleet will that change as the night wears on? I just want snow so bad.
I would say Pikeville does good out of this with several inches,
Solid moisture is headed that way, any sleet will be brief!
CB’s forecast seems the usual solid, but models do what they do. Radar trends after 1AM should be key. Models have missed too much for me to trust them at all.
Warm air should not be a factor, but dry air slots could. Not saying that is the case here, but that is the one thing that can stunt totals even when cold enough to snow and no warm air around any level of the atmosphere.
That happens a lot in KY, so that us possible!
Rolo is typing for me weeeeeeee 😉
Anybody having precipitation currently? Cloudy, breezy, and 30 degrees west of Morehead.
I guess we only have an audience east of I 65 tonight
Location Location Location! Powerful advertising!
Here at the main southern tip of Floyd County, there’s plenty of moisture in the air, you can feel it. but the sky is jet black, so id say lots of cloud cover overhead. Unfortunately, no flakes yet!!

Hrrr’s amount of snowfall
Equals CBs forecast too.
I bet that little white bit in central KY on the map is right over my house, meaning no snow.
I just checked the radar, look like heavy snow band is coming, is it going to come for Lexington? From the radar loop, it seem like it.
Yea it does…Nothing to write home about but sure the Kiddo’s and teacher’s are happy, happy, happy…
Oh, Good Grief, people….watch the radar….going NE through IN/OH, as is always. Now, if that stuff coming up out of TN makes it into here w/ enough cold air…you got a shot…maybe. Going to bed looks better to me than wish-casting.
Go to sleep then girl! I’m stayin’ up and playin’ Candy Crush on my iPad, snap!
Play Golf star it’s awesome!
Debbie is right on, north of Lex looks like Lville and Southeast KY will get in on most of the action.

I’m staying up to watch for the snow to start!
Southern Illinois and Indiana are in the zone this year, some places have 10 inches of snow on the ground and they are in a sweet spot again tonight, it seems impossible to get a widespread snow ever for the state of KY, its always one section that gets in on it with most others left out??

current run of the GFS
I’m west of 65 in northwestern Hardin county. Per radar, I should have been watching snow fall since 11:45 or so. But nothing. How sad to see all the potential and know it’s just evaporating. Guess that’s why the snow ratios are so low. Hope you all in the lower half get something out of this one.
We’ve finally got snowflakes coming down here in far Southern Floyd County. And it’s coming down fast and hard!! Everything already has a coating and its only been snowing for 14 minutes here.
