Good morning, folks. Sleep is for the weak and your friendly weatherdude doesn’t believe in it if the weather is active. The system across southeastern Kentucky has pushed on out, but the separate snow band across the north and west is packing a bigger punch than I thought.
It has dropped up to 3″ across parts of northern Kentucky and is slowly sinking south and east into much of central Kentucky. This can easily drop a quick inch or so of snow that creates travel issues. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for much of the region…
Notice all the holes showing up in the various advisories… How on earth is anyone in the media supposed to portray that to the general public? Stop being cute and just blanket the area.
Here are the trackers…

Stay safe and have a great morning.
Ha!
Yes – snowing now here in northwest Lex. Temp 23.
Once again, the dome lives over Madison County. Unbelievable!
Knox County
We had some freezing rain in Flat Lick around 3-3:30 this morning. A dusting of snow sometime after that…that was it. Precip came through before that when it was too warm to snow.
We have about an inch on the ground here in Somerset right now. Looks like that next snow band Chris talked about is about to get here. Hope so. Want to see some snow falling! Everyone be careful out there today. Thanks Chris.
The dome has affected the minds of the NWS.
Hey north central KY quit hogging all the snow!!! lol
Yes, we had about 3″ this morning up here in Boone County. Closing in on 10″ for the moth this far. Lol!
You guys gotta move north of the I-64 corridor, snow life gets much better from about Dry Ridge northward in KY. 😉
Missed this one for southeastern ky, supposed to get 2-4…just a skiff?? the dome has moved from central ky to southeastern ky
The dome has definitely settled over our neck of the woods and we are well on our way to my predicted 50+” of cold 33 degree rain through April.
Got 2 inches in Knott county
another school day for high water in Knox? No snow anywhere but a very slight dusting on the decks and cars
Overachiever for the northern band? I don’t know. NAM model yesterday hinted at a burst of heavy snow for southern IN. Yet, only an inch or so was forecast. But, I’m hearing instances of more than 2″ with this band.
Only 0.6″ here in Valley Station but a high-impact event nonetheless.
JCPS closed for the day and numerous accidents in metro Louisville
Where about’s in Valley Station are you located?
1 mile north of Gene ‘Slider’ freeway at Stonestreet near the elementary school.
I got family off valley station rd and millers lane by Stuart Elementary
Excuse me I meant Stuart Middle School not elementary
Where do you guys live in S.E. Ky. that you only got a skiff of snow? I live on top of a hill, and it looks like at least 2 inches on my back deck.
Looks like Knox and Bell counties Char
Thanks Andy.
near Cumberland Gap
Same here in Middlesboro Andy except not even a dusting….. Yet another swing and a complete miss from those fabulous models. lol Instead of 2-4″ inches of snow we got another 1+” of that wonderful flooding rain that we love so much. This is all starting to become very amusing to me.
23 degrees with snow begin to taper off in Lawrenceburg. We missed out on the bigger snow on Friday (probably got about an inch) but the ground has been covered by snow/ice since Friday and now a nice little coating this morning. Seasonal total about 3 inches of snow so far–kind of hard to measure the snow on top of ice.
Not sure why Greenup and Carter counties are left out, definitely seeing winter weather. Guess we live in a snowless bubble according to the NWS.
We might get a dusting in lexington. That makes three dustings in 4 days.
Have had some light snow in Nashville TN. A little bit tried to stick to car roofs and such. Now both flurries and partial clearing trying to take place, 28 degrees.
thanks chris for all the hard work you do to keep us on top of the weather..
i especially like the photos to show us how other parts of ky is fareing..
band of radar snow just went over southern Madison and nary a flake showed its pretty face. Second band coming over us now…we’ll see, but not optimistic
Considering the 0 inches Richmond got last night and this morning following the 0 inches over the weekend the NWS may be on to something with gap in the WWA coverage… Or perhaps they just got lucky. (This does follow the 1/4 inch we got a few weeks ago.)
The radar did seem to fizzle right over the gap in the WWA advisory.
Wow…the secondary wave of snow is really fizzling out as it sinks to the south east……
Looks like we got about 3/4 of an inch here in eastern Lincoln. I was hoping for more, but oh well. That takes our season total to right at 3 inches now for the season.
I have somewhere between 3-4 inches of snow at Dorton in Pike County.
As of yesterday, Louisville was sitting at 5.1 inches for the season. Our average, according to WAVE 3 is roughly 12 inches. That was all before this little over achiever came through this morning. Here at work (in Brooks) I’d guess we got a little over an inch. Not sure what Louisville Metro ended up with. Hoping for more this weekend!
U got to b kidding me. No snow here in richmond. Flurried for mayb 10 min. No school —-WHAT
I’m tired of these 1-2 inch snows we’re getting!! Why can’t we get thumped with a good 6-12 inch snowstorm? I hope we do because these 1-3 inch stuff isn’t cutting it for sledding and it melts away too fast!!
No school for a dusting of snow here in Knox Co. Models are really struggling to get a grasp on snow totals. Around midnight last night the last thing posted was showing 2+ for parts of my area. Ended up with basically nothing and two schools called off because of missed forecasts due to the models. Give me sunshine and 70s instead of this stuff.
The latest GFS came in and trending colder another possible substantial snowfall for the weekend. Looks like north central ky and southern Indiana will be in the snow zone again. If I hear any complaints from Louisville about not getting any snow you all need to get your head examine lol
Does this include Louisville?
East Frankfort got maybe a fluffy inch or less, better than the dusting most thought we would get, waiting for the great pumpkin, I mean snowstorm 😉
Looks like another cold chasing moisture event this weekend…Will the cold ever catch the moisture…Beep Beep says the moisture as the cold slams into a barrier known as “The Dome” ….(Yes the moisture is the Road Runner)…Probably another icing event in this type of pattern for someone..
In case anyone was concerned — Richmond received another 0 inches total. We are up to 1/4 inches for the year. (…and people questioned my skepticism of the models…)
