Good evening, gang. The next system diving in here later tonight and Tuesday is showing up a little better on some of the late day models. Does this mean a little better shot at some snow for some? Maybe.
The main part of this system will pass to our north and northeast. But, the models do have a nice little upper level system passing on top of us tomorrow afternoon. I’ve highlighted this on the GFS…
You often see a decent amount of lift along and north of the track of something like that. That in itself could provide a streak of precipitation. The GFS is even trying to put down some light snow along the track of that thing…
The latest run of the RPM is picking up on that and is a little more widespread with the light snow potential…
That will be something to really keep a close eye on. If that disturbance is as strong as depicted, a light snowfall would be possible for areas along and north of its track.
That’s also a heck of a temp fall coming behind it and the models are likely underplaying that quick shot of cold into Wednesday.
I still have a TON of questions about the weekend setup. I will try to get a better handle on that with the overnight update.
Take care.
Thanks for the update, Chris. Appreciate you taking the time to do this. Thank you for all you do!
Thanks for keeping us so informed! I read EVERY post and appreciate all you do!
Thank you for keeping us informed. I love hearing about the possibilities! I appreciate all your hard work!
Thanks CB for the update. Hoping to see this thing flip over the next few days. Very unlikely, just wishful thinking. At least chance for snow tomorrow.
BubbaG…..here comes your clipper….LOL
The chances of this next storm system being a wintery system this weekend for Kentucky is about the same chances of me going to the local convient store and buying a 1.00 mega millions ticket and hitting for 586 million dollars.
That would be real nice. Could by my own snow maker. Or at least a winter house up north.
There will be a ice/snow storm to the west of us a severe weather outbreak to the east of us and good ol’ Kentucky getting a solid soaking rain event. Yippee!
I visit this blog frequently, but very rarely leave comments, due to the attitudes of several posters. Please don’t let these people get to you, Chris – many of us are grateful for what you do. Thank you!! 🙂
unless we are forecasting ohio weather there nothing to see here. geesh.
far as weekend there nothing to see but WATER, as earlier map said WINTER BATTLEGROUND over KY that means a bad place be if u want SNOW.
Yep, let it rain, let it rain, let it rain….. I’m so looking forward to the January warmth and flooding rains but I’m really, really looking forward to the mosquitoes big enough to carry my car away coming back with a vengeance in a few weeks. They have a great breeding ground here in the swamp (aka SE KY) and they’re sure to be thirsty as well. I can’t wait!!!!
“The rain will become widespread by Friday into Saturday as a cold front stalls out across the region. This front will have waves of low pressure riding along it. Heavy rain and thunder will be possible during this time”. On kyt..so I guess I’m asking what else do u need figure out. What tons of questions are their…rain three days backend 1/2 snow if were so lucky
A wild mix in the north 🙂 😉
Thrilled to death that everybodu but ky will get snow this weekend, ill take an all rain event over a nasty cold blizzard any day.. Thank you lord.
Your opinion on how much you hate snow has been noted, do you have to keep repeating yourself!
Blog doesn’t belong to u and attacking me is uncalled for. God bless
With your comments you are attacking me, check out all the other comments on here about you, By the way, the guy that runs this blog LOVES SNOW! Ha Ha!
I never once attacked u, and its, very disturbing that you and others attack non snow lovers and get away with it. This will be the last time i post on this blog . every time i post I’m attacked and called names. As a god fearing church woman i refuse to take part of this any longer.. God bless
clearly you don’t mind being attacked or you would quite posting the things you do lol.
quit**
Barb you are not a martyr so get over your persecution complex and quit being so self righteous.
Somehow I think you would change your tune real quick, Barb, if you had around 7″ of rain in the past 3 weekends as we have had in the southeast part of the state… I also don’t think you would be “thanking the Lord” if your home were to be flooded or if you and your car were swept away by a fast moving stream over a flooded road as you were trying to get home. Just something to think about there. 😉
Maybe she wants wants us all to be flooded thays what it sounds like 😉
That seems a pretty big presumption! The Barbster meant nothing of the sort. I too believe in the positive spin: If a big snow hits, cool! If it does not- cool, since no snow to move from my big driveway 🙂
Using what Barb said in that manner could be extended to snow as a brutal blizzard than buries people in avalanches and gets folks stuck in hollers with no food. That would be the hillbilly version of Alive! 😉 The other other white meat 🙂
BTW, I am a born & bred hillbilly and mega proud of it 🙂
A true Hillbilly will always have meat in the freezer and if times get real rough we wring a chicken’s neck..
My wish for Barb is that if and when Kentucky gets a big snow that Barb gets the most
Why don’t you tell us something new Barb. I think you are also a troll just trying to get a rise out of everyone. I think your name is actually Bob and you are 40 years old living in your moms basement. You need some new material. Will the real Barb(Bob) please stand up?
Clipper for most not north equals dusting at best.
I think we see the theme so far. Snow to the north- west/east. Did not think we would see several wimpy snow years in a row (did not expect it last year, either). It is like we have become the tundra zone for the next ice age. Meh.
Sparing the pontification with violins in the background.
There’s not much to figure out regarding the weekend system. Plain and simple, the arctic air needed for wintry precip will be north of the Ohio River. In fact this setup looks to favor central Indiana into central and northern Ohio. If anything, CB needs to be looking at the availability of instability and shear, as southern and SE Ky will be in a decent spot for thunder. The trend is always your friend, not sure why CB is going against the grain on nearly every system
Calling for temps to average over 15 degrees above normal would be going against the grain also.
