Good Friday everyone and welcome to the end of the week and the start of our annual snowflake chase. It is the time of year when snow lovers start to get that little tingle deep inside at the mere mention of snow. What is it that causes us to love this frozen form of water? Is it the inner child within? How about the peacefulness of a new fallen snow? Whatever it may be… I want to hear from you. Leave us a comment on why you love snow so much.

Some lucky people will be seeing their first flakes of the new season at some point over the next few days thus leading to an outbreak of dances similar to this…

If you are one of the people seeing some snowflakes and feel like bustin’ a move… make sure to get a pic or video of it and the blog will make you famous.

The actual weather forecast goes a little something like this…

– A northwesterly wind flow will have a scattering of rain and snow showers across the region today. This stuff will be fairly scattered with a few rays of sun in between. You can track the action here…

– Some of you looking for the first flakes will likely be left out on the cold… literally… as that will be all you get. Don’t frown… it’s only the first week of November.

– Today will be a blustery one with gusty winds from the northwest. Highs will range from the upper 30s and low 40s east to mid 40s west. Factor in the wind and it will never feel as warm as the thermometer shows.

Wind Chill Temps

– Temps will take a quick tumble into the low and mid 30s this evening and will end up down in the middle 20s by Saturday morning.

– It is tonight and early Saturday that any precip that falls would be in the form of snow showers and flurries. It is also the same time when a few areas can pick up on a rooftop dusting…

– Highs Saturday will be very similar to today and may even be a degree or two colder in the east. Lows Saturday night will bottom out in the low to mid 20s.

– Sunday will see sunshine returning with highs in the upper 40s east to near 60 west.

– Next week looks to feature great fall weather with highs returning to the 60s with plenty of sunshine.

– That pattern will give way to a colder one by next weekend into the following week as the prospect of a wintry pattern for the end of November is on the increase.

There you have it… the chance to see the elusive early November snowflake. If you do and snap a pic or some video of it shoot me an e-mail and we will try to get it on the blog. Your chances are MUCH higher of getting on here if you do a little dance! Don’t forget to tell us why you love snow so much in the comments section.

To the new folks… you must be on www.kyweathercenter.com to leave a comment. It’s apparently how the internet Gods want it.

I will update as needed. Have a great Friday and take care.
