Good Tuesday afternoon all. I wanted to drop in for a quickie update on the potential for what is left of Tropical Depression (and likely Nicole) to bring some rain our way later this week. TD 16 is down in the Caribbean right now and will cross over Cuba and move across Florida then toward the Carolinas by Thursday. From there… we get some disagreement on how far inland the storm tracks as it lifts northward.

Here is a look at our depression…

It is not the best organized system and is unlikely to become a hurricane.. but will still pack a heck of a punch along its path. Ahhh… the path of this storm. Well… it is set in stone as it crosses Florida then gets muddled as it moves into the Carolinas. The latest runs of the NAM and GFS really show this very well. Take a look at the rain totals from Wednesday through early Friday…

The NAM is an outlier right now… but some of the old Canadian model runs showed something similar. The GFS has slowly been coming west with the storm track and now brings rain into eastern Kentucky. We will see how this plays out as an further correction west by the models would mean some big rains around here. Given our recent track record on rain… we will believe it when we see it.

Take care.
