Good evening, gang. Old man winter will be taking a break for the upcoming week, but he is nowhere close to calling it quits. As a matter of fact, things can turn harsh again for the final week of the month into early March. That idea has been talked about on the blog for the past few weeks.

The new week starts with chilly showers moving in for Monday afternoon and evening. Highs in the low and mid 40s will be as good as it gets.

Tuesday and Wednesday look ok with seasonal temps.

Thursday is the best day we have to actually turn “mild”. Highs will head toward 60 degrees on a strong southwesterly wind ahead of a cold front. That front arrives Thursday night with a line of showers and thunderstorms…

A few strong storms will be possible ahead of that front, but it doesn’t look to have a ton of instability available to tap. We’ll keep a close eye on it. The air coming in behind it is much colder and sets the stage for another storm to work across the region by next Saturday. The European Model has a wintry look to it…

Even colder air follows that and sets the stage for the possibility of arctic air returning a few days late. The European has a wave of low pressure developing along this arctic boundary…

Check out how far below normal temps are currently looking for early the following week…

The folks who’ve been yelling “winter’s over” since Thanksgiving will finally get it right… in April. 😉

Take care.
