Good Sunday everyone… here is hoping the blog finds you having a great weekend. Showers and thunderstorms made their way across the state Saturday delivering some good rains to some. Some areas got passed over by the good rains… so is the power of scattered showers and storms.
Changes are coming our way for the week ahead as a much cooler pattern takes shape.
Let us start with the weather today before we get to the cooler stuff that is coming our way. Partly sunny skies will boost temps well into the 80s today… a breeze will kick up as our late day flow becomes more northerly. It is this flow that will bring cooler air in here for Monday and Tuesday as low pressure develops across the mid atlantic region. Temps should generally run in the low 80s for highs for most areas early in the week with lows that can dip into the high 50s. A few clouds will be noted in the east and there will be a small chance for a shower in the far east.
Temps may spike up a few degrees Wednesday ahead of a new front swinging through the area. This has a shot at bringing a shower or thunderstorm to the area… but the rain chances next week are very low. The main thing this front will be noted for is for a very nice brand of air for Thursday and Friday. This air is coming in from Canada as you can see here on the Thursday map from the European Model…

Highs Thursday and Friday will be around 80 to the low 80s. Nighttime lows will drop to the coolest readings of the summer with low and mid 50s possible.
These two days may be the nicest of the entire summer.
Are we done with the heat? Probably not as I see the seeds being sewn for some hotter days to close the month.
Have a great day and take care.
mid 50s, cant wait til those are the highs 😀
Wow! Looking forward to that! We got some rain yeterday, but it was not too much. Got very humid afterward though.
Chris, I hope the week ahead pans out like you say (usually does. You always hit the nail on the head!) 😉
Everyone have a great Sunday.
Ah, sweet relief!! I’m looking forward to this week’s weather. I can’t stand the 90+ degree temps!
That’s going too far.
Amen to that brother Tommy! Preach it my friend! 🙂
I’ll laugh when you guys complain about 30s for highs in January, LOL.
Heat index is 96 at my house right now. It’s downright HOT again already.
What’s scary is if you watch the GFS loop… there is NO rain, I mean zero, from today all the way into the middle of September. The counties in KY that are borderline drought already (mine included) are going well into drought soon. 🙁
I am wondering if the rock hard dry ground is going to keep temps up. At 5:00, Lexington and Frankfort, both areas bone dry, are 3-5 degrees higher than London/Jackson, where it has been wet. It seems very hot outside here in Georgetown today too.
We now have TS Danielle, and could have Earl in the next couple of days.
And to think that we went from VERY DRY earlier in the year with hardly any rain, to extremely wet, back to very dry. That said, parts of Fayette has had LOTS of rain, while other parts haven’t had much at all. Even with the inch of rain we had at my house a week ago, the yard still hasn’t been mowed in 2 weeks and still doesn’t really need it.
Take into account that a hurricane could strike the east coast and bring us rain, but it’s unknown whether or not that will happen yet.
I’m just hoping it’s a repeat of last year. After only a little more than 2″ of rain for August…September brought over 8″ to make up for it.
The WKYT forecast shows 85-Mon, 86-Tues,90-Wed and no mention of lower humidity, so this should be interesting to see how it plays out. Here in Berea, our surface moisture is fine, judging by the grass, but lower level still seems lacking judging by how many brown leaves I see on the ground in various places. Hopefully, Chris is correct and I’ll be able to open up the house and turn off the AC for a few days.
No complaints will come from me Hamlin. I used to live in Quebec. Like Brer Rabbit…PLEASE throw me in the brier patch!
on some area there will be a warmer & on some areas there will be a colder atmosphere
