Good Saturday to one and all. After a hot start to our weekend… showers and thunderstorms will take center stage later today into early Sunday as a cold front works across the state. This front actually will mark the beginning of a much cooler temp regime that will settle in for much of the next week.

Before the showers and storms move in later today… temps will warm quickly and will likely hit 90 for areas getting in on the sun a bit longer. Rains will progress from west to east later today into tonight with most areas picking up .25″-.50″ of rainfall with locally higher amounts a good bet.

Here is what the GFS shows for the rain threat…

SPC Products Overview

The rains will move out from west to east early Sunday leaving much of the day with sunshine… especially the farther west you live. Temps should warm well into the 80s for many.

Low pressure is going to crank up across the mid atlantic states into new england as the upper levels try to close off. This setup is more typical of what we would see a few months from now and should put us in a northerly wind flow for the first half of the new week… this would lead to cooler temps and even a spotty shower threat in the east. The NAM and European models suggest highs my not get above 80 in the east early in the week.

Another front will swoop in here by the middle of the week and this will bring another shot of cooler air in here for the end of the week. How would a few mornings of temps well down into the 50s feel?

I will have updates as needed today so check back. Have a great Saturday and take care.
