Good Saturday to one and all. After a hot start to our weekend… showers and thunderstorms will take center stage later today into early Sunday as a cold front works across the state. This front actually will mark the beginning of a much cooler temp regime that will settle in for much of the next week.
Before the showers and storms move in later today… temps will warm quickly and will likely hit 90 for areas getting in on the sun a bit longer. Rains will progress from west to east later today into tonight with most areas picking up .25″-.50″ of rainfall with locally higher amounts a good bet.
Here is what the GFS shows for the rain threat…
This Evening

Tonight

You can track the showers and storms into your hometown here…
There is even the chance we could get in on a few strong storms. Here is the latest from the Storm Prediction Center…
The rains will move out from west to east early Sunday leaving much of the day with sunshine… especially the farther west you live. Temps should warm well into the 80s for many.
Low pressure is going to crank up across the mid atlantic states into new england as the upper levels try to close off. This setup is more typical of what we would see a few months from now and should put us in a northerly wind flow for the first half of the new week… this would lead to cooler temps and even a spotty shower threat in the east. The NAM and European models suggest highs my not get above 80 in the east early in the week. ![]()
Another front will swoop in here by the middle of the week and this will bring another shot of cooler air in here for the end of the week. How would a few mornings of temps well down into the 50s feel? ![]()
I will have updates as needed today so check back. Have a great Saturday and take care.

Thanks Chris!
Let’s hope this system doesn’t give the same areas heavy rain while leaving out areas that haven’t had much….Or do I dare say that? I hope I didn’t jinx anything
looks like rain is coming earlier than expected
Thanks, Chris. I am hoping that we get part of a good day anyway. I just checked the radar, and it appears that some of the storms and rain are already arriving, although from all the forecasts I have seen or heard, they are not due until later in the day. Hope it doesn’t turn into a total washout. Have a GREAT and safe Saturday! (TWO WEEKS until the CATS start!)
Hoping the rain holds together and drenches my part of Bourbon County. We missed out on all the rain this past week.
We just got 0.03″ of rain! Praise the Lord!! Woohoo! As dry as it’s been on the north side of the BG Parkway…we’ll take whatever we can get!
So this is it? I think we got about 0.03 here too!
Praying for more than that too. We had about the same in Georgetown.
Could that system be hintting on the winter to come? Maybe….

Intermittent showers here. As usual, the line of storms is breaking up before it gets here. 🙁
Very classic Bluegrass split happened with both lines this morning, now look to be refiring to the east. Such is life….
All I had to read was, THE ONION, and that told me all I needed to know.
Really heavy rain in northern Pulaski county adding to our total for the week which was at 4.2 inches before this latest batch.
Thankful i only got .06 of rain at my house today

LOL. How did Calipari lure Rex, the point guard, away from his native Gainesville?
