Good Friday everyone and welcome to the weekend. As we roll into a weekend here in the middle of August… the kind of weather that one would expect is in store. Heat and humidity will return to the area today before the threat for showers and thunderstorms increase as we head into Saturday and Sunday.
Temps today make a run at 90 across much of the east as the west bakes with highs in the middle 90s. Sunny skies will be noted as we kick off the weekend.
A weak cold front will move in as we head into the second half of Saturday into early Sunday. Clouds will slowly increase Saturday and will bring some afternoon showers and storms of the scattered variety. Before all this… highs near 90 should be likely again.
The best chance for showers and storms will come Saturday night and early Sunday when locally heavy rains will be possible. Here is what the GFS shows during this time…
Saturday Night

Sunday Morning

Temps for Sunday should be way down compared to the next few days as clouds and rain will do a number on your thermometer.
Looking ahead to next week… a more typical brand of warm and humid weather is likely to be with us as the torrid temps of days gone by do not appear to be coming back. Another front should make a run at us toward the second half of the week. Noticing an increase in the amount of fronts of late? That’s a sure sign our pattern has flipped and we are heading toward early fall. ![]()
I will have full updates through the weekend so check back. Have a great Friday and take care.
The weather felt great outside last night and this morning. Not ready yet for the “early fall” though.
The real sign that our pattern has flipped: HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL STARTS TONIGHT! 🙂
Go Boyle Co. Rebels!
Easy to note that the temps are about 5 degrees warmer in the Bluegrass and west due to the extreme dry ground and lack of rain last week.
Love the fall prediction! I am so ready for fall.
in your country is switching to winter time?
Very amusing thought, well told, just do everything laid out on the shelves:)
