Good afternoon. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is now out for much of central and eastern Kentucky until 6pm. Damaging winds and large hail are very possible in many areas. Here is a look at the watch outline and the current warnings…
Here are your storm tracking radars…
I will have updates as needed so check back. Follow the latest rapid fire updates through Twitter… @Kentuckyweather . Take care.

Maysville/Mason County got slammed by a severe thunderstorm around 11:30 a.m. Many trees and powerlines down, damage to some structures. NWS issued a severe thunderstorm warning prior advising of the possibility of 60-80 MPH straight line winds. I’d say they hit the nail on the head.
I have to admit that it is very entertaining to watch the storms and rain break in half as the approach Jessamine and Fayette Counties.

The multiple waves of storms led to 1- 10 minute downpour around 11:00 in Georgetown. That is the summer of 2010, feast or famine.
Lincoln County getting hammered right now with a severe storm.
You people in southern KY have been getting storms like crazy this Summer. It’s not fair. I hate you. 🙂
I’m sick of them and the rain..don’t want any more.
I hate right back WXman 😉
Yeah, what’s up with that? It’ll look like we’re gonna get a real soaker, then poof, it dissolves into nothing right over us while to the north and south the line stays together.
I don’t know how everything is just not dried up? Honestly. It always breaks and I have even sometimes noticed the seem to reconnect after they pass us.

very stromg storm in London! Power is out now from the winds!!!
oh may mean winter tim goes old schoooooooooollll.

Winds were CRAZY when it blew through here in East Bernstadt a lil while ago. Calmed down now… Glad to FINALLY see some rain though!
Is this it for the rain chances today? Rained hard for about 45 seconds at my house in Jessamine County, a mile away had no rain at all. No rain yesterday, no rain today… we need some sent this way!
Did you all see where NOAA says the hurricane season might have started slow, but it will still be one of the worst ever?
Give me a break. They just won’t give it up, will they?
Little to no rain in Madison today.
When’s our next chance?
Hates a strong word dont ya think?
Awesome!!! We just had a beautiful thunderstorm come through here (Hazard). I sat on the porch and tried to get pictures of the lightening. I’m too slow. 🙁 But it was beautiful!
To clarify this, the NOAA still thinks this b/c it is still ramping up. the mjo, which favors storm devlopment, is forecast to come back into our basin later this week. Also, mean sea level pressure across the entire basin is extremely low and sea surface temps are at record highs, shear is very low. Don’t say this season is a bust until the season is over on November 30. Not trying to be a smart aleck, just making a point.
Chris, check your Wall on Facebook and your photos. 🙂 I sent you a picture of the storm clouds rolling in this afternoon. (Hazard). The lightening was beautiful!
It is a strong word…surprised they could spell it.
Now that most of the Bluegrass missed the rain, any guesses as to how hot it gets next week? Lex18 is showing 96 by midweek, Belski said 100 is possible with the dry ground-we definitely have that in town here.
The seasonal tropical forecast has been garbage for the past 3 or 4 years. It’s par for the course this year and its not going to get better. We are only 4 weeks from the peak of the season and we can’t even get a storm to hold together long enough to become a hurricane.
down at parents in lexington very humid
I feel so cheated. All that heat and no storm, another silent frontal passage here
