Previous Update
Good afternoon everyone and thanks for stopping by the blog. On a day where the humidity and temps are combining to produce crazy heat index values… the threat for severe thunderstorms and flash flooding will try to take center stage. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is now out for extreme northeastern Kentucky… but warnings are going up well outside the watch box.
Here is a look at the watch and the latest warnings…
Damaging winds will be a major issue from these storms that go up. With the amount of energy available… a tornado or two cannot be ruled out. These storms will be efficient rain producers as well and this may lead to flash flooding. Track all the action here…
I will have updates as needed and will have rapid fire updates on twitter. @Kentuckyweather is the name to follow.
Take care.

Everyone be careful during the storms. There’s one headed right for me. Maybe it will cool the air off some.
Ya think it’ll get hot????
the mesonet site has the highs and heat indexes for the state…go check it out… I saw a few heat indexes over 120!!! wow!!… and I thought 107 index here today was miserable…

It’s thundering to our west in Madison County…5:15pm.
Fingers crossed for a little cooling.
I am not impressed with this storm. Madison might get a shower out of it..unless it can do some regrouping over southern Jessamine. All the main action is well east right now.
MAJOR flash flooding occurring in Pike county right now!
Hi Tom… can you give me any more info on the flooding there?
Several streams are out of their banks and running across roads. Luckily there doesn’t seem to be any evacuations taking place.
Major grass burnout alert in my backyard. Not a drop of rain again.
