Good afternoon, gang. Old Man Winter is going to throw another jab our way with snow, wind and very cold air coming for Tuesday. Light accumulations are a good bet across much of the state as light snow and snow showers push in late tonight through tomorrow evening.
The GFS and European Models are both putting some snow on the ground…
This is likely to be an inch or less of snow for many. The very nature of this type of a setup can produce locally higher amounts in gusty snow showers. Our first flakes will arrive before the morning commute and that could make for some tricky travel early on. Melting would then take place during the day with some slick spots redeveloping by evening. Can we squeeze out another snow day out of this? It’s a possibility.
Temps by Wednesday morning will dive into the middle teens in most areas. That may put some areas within reach of record low temps.
I’m seeing much more of a spring pattern taking shape over the next few weeks. Warmer temps and stormy times are ahead.
Take care.
will this interfere with our state fire department training tomorrow night at the fire station chris?
If your still ok with snow, enjoy tomorrow. The next time we’ll have highs in the 30s, windy, snowy, (a winter-like day) will probably not come back till Nov or Dec. I’m gonna enjoy old man winter’s last punch, then to the stormy 70s! (BTW, both the GFS and Euro are pushing to the mid 70s on multiple days next week, and it looks rather stormy too!)
I really like the sound of your last paragraph, Chris!
an inch or less was the story for the winter for SE KY for 90% of the events
So you have had a pretty consistent winter? Ha ha.
undoubtedly LoL
We’ll I just tell you stormy and 70’s you can keep I just as soon see cold and snow is tornadoes or any type storms I wish I could just blink my eyes and spring and summer would be gone I hate to wish months away like that but after the tornadoes that hit west liberty I don’t think I will ever like spring or summer ever again
Marsha-I do not mean this to be rude at all but you may want to look into getting some therapy for your fears. It’s no fun living life in fear. I know you have been through a lot but maybe talking with someone could help. Life is too short to want to wish over half the year away because of weather. God Bless.
I’m sorry but therapy want help me I will never forget the feeling of that night not knowing where my daughter was until 4:00 that next morning will be with me forever it tools us that long to get to her I know you don’t mean anything by what you said but let me tell you something that is a night I don’t ever want to live thought again
Its only 182 days till Fall. It’ll be here before ya know it!
Marsha, you’re not alone in your fears. You, and many others (including myself) have developed anxiety, and PTSD type disorders following the events of 2012. That said, you need to do what I do, and that is NOT to wish away valuable parts of your life because of a storm. That tornado didn’t kill you, but you’re treating it as if it did. When a storm comes, use caution, you know it /can/ turn deadly, but honestly, the chances of you getting another tornado like that again, directly through town is very low. You’ll face hazards every single day, but you don’t let them stop you. Enjoy your life! Take the storms as a way to see all the pretty green again, and know that warm weather doesn’t mean just severe storms, but a lot of great other things! Stop letting your anxiety get the upper hand, and stop it at the source. Sit back and watch the show when a storm comes, just use caution, and you will be fine!
Life is way too short for one event to never let you live fully again. And understand, you’re not alone in being afraid, many others are, but don’t let it control you. Control it!
Thanks I can’t wait….
In this morning’s KWC thread (click link here), there are some interesting posts regarding tornadoes, including about how the 2014 severe wx season is – thankfully – off to a very slow start so far.
For now, we of course are still dealing with the winter that won’t go away. A few Winter Weather Advisories are already up for parts of east Tennessee and western parts of Virginia.
