Good Tuesday to one and all and a big thanks for dropping by the blog. Our stormy patter is firing back up across the state over the next few days as moisture streams back in from the south the next few days. This should set us up for more heavy rains that can create some local high water issues.

Storms Monday went up across parts of southern Kentucky and a few caused some wind damage to go along with torrential rains. Parts of Tennessee were rocked by severe weather including a tornado touchdown near Nashville. If you are playing along at home… the severe weather occured down there without the area being in a slight risk, let alone a watch, from the Storm Prediction Center. Shocking!

The axis of moisture will move a bit farther northward today meaning showers and storms will cover more real estate into our part of the world. Areas along and south of I-64 will have the best chance of getting in on the action. With a similar setup to Monday… heavy rains and a few strong storms will be possible. Farther north… any storm chance looks isolated right now.

Track the storms here…

Highs today will be in the 80s once again.

The stormy weather will increase for Wednesday and Thursday as moisture really increases across the entire area. This setup should bring widespread showers and storms that will produce heavy rains in several areas.

GFS Wednesday Afternoon

Yes… I am concerned a few of these storms can cause some more flash flooding on the local scale and this is a setup we will watch carefully.

If you are looking toward the weekend… ( and who isn’t? ) we will have to watch for the potential for a few storm clusters to drop in from the northwest. Highs in the mid and upper 80s look good right now.

I will have updates as needed so check back. Have a great Tuesday and take care.
