Good evening gang. I have been away from a computer for most of the day… but I am back in the saddle now as strong and severe thunderstorms roll southeastward across the state. These storms… like the ones this morning… have been high wind and hail producers. They are also carrying a whole lot of water with them which can lead to local flash flooding.
If you are wondering… no watches are out for the region. The Storm Prediction Center doesn’t even have this region or anywhere near us outlooked for even a chance for severe weather. Horrible is the word I would use to describe the SPC for us this spring and summer!
TrackĀ the stormsĀ here…
I will be using Twitter to send out quick updates and warnings so sign up to follow me there… @Kentuckyweather . These updates also appear in the top right hand corner of the blog.
Take care.
We had a lovely candelit dinner when the power went out at the Cracker Barrel here in Shelbyville. Driving home from dinner we saw several MORE trees down and a car was trapped in the high water downtown.
strike 2 for the spc now I guess. we are in a slight risk for tommorow.
Do you think the storms that are due west of Lex right now will continue the more southerly track as the have for last couple hours or do you see them tracking more southeast? With the sun going down do you think they will weaken any? I would really appreciate any thoughts. Thanks
flooding in pike and shelby counties should be main concern now.
Wow! That sounds like a heck of a storm. I think we’re gonna miss most of that storm here in Versaills; there’s just a few raindrops and thunder here. There looks to be more storms our way tonight.
Just missed us here in NW LEX… lot of noise but nothing more than a drizzle.
hoping for a few drops of rain soon
This is my FAV song currently being played on the weather channel….I LOVE it!
