Good Tuesday folks. Tropical showers and thunderstorms will be with us today across the state and these may cause some problems in a few spots because of the heavy rains. All of this before we get in on some hot and humid weather moves in for a couple of days.
There isn’t a whole lot left to say about today. Scattered stuff will be with us all day long with the potential for much more organized storms across the southern half of the region. High dewpoints and tropical air will assure us that these will be heavy rain producers.
Here is your assortment of radars to track the storms…
A few storms may linger into later tonight and early Wednesday before hot and humid air surges back in for a few days. Wednesday will hit the upper 80s before surging into the low and maybe middle 90s for Thursday. Unlike the heat last week… humidity levels will be higher leading to a heat index that may actually top 100 degrees this time. That is something to watch for.
Friday will see temps back toward the lower 90s as the threat for some showers and thunderstorms moves back into the picture ahead of a cold front. This front will bring a much better chance for showers and storms to us over the weekend as temps comes down a bit.
GFS Saturday Afternoon
Have a great Tuesday and I will update as needed. Take care.
huge complex of rain and storms getting ready to move into southern ky..on this early morning, hope you got the windows open cause its gonna be a good night to listen to the rain drops
we need the rain but I hope and pray none of this is acid rain. their reports of acid rain in the eastern US and mid west believed to be from the massive gulf oil spill…what do u all think of this ?
Thanks, Chris. Looks like we are going to get some much needed rain out of this today. Makes it a bit difficult when you are inspecting cars, but I won’t complain. We need the rain too badly!
Storms this afternoon possibly severe, or just strong? (To me, there is a difference) 😉
Have a GREAT Tuesday, everyone.
what happened to the winter predictions? i really wanted to know what you think.
Heavy rain in Versailles all morning. Love it!
It’s July. I really couldn’t care less about what’s maybe going to happen in January. 🙂
Not liking this rain one bit. I’ll be glad when it’s dry again for a few days. Sue me.
Jeff, I agree. I want dry sunny days.
I agree! I maybe would like to know what is going to happen in August. That’s about it at this point.
that is a very good point. but winter is very exciting.
I am loving the rain. I love it when it is cloudy or rainy. The temp as dropped from 76 at midnight to 69 currently. Lovely!
Jake
I don’t want a super-long dry spell like we did in 2007 and 2008, but somewhere in between that and 2009’s soaker of a summer would be ok. A good downpour once a week is cool.
Winter CAN be exciting..but it can also be very BLAH with clouds every day. The older I get, the more I am learning to enjoy each day of each season…because before you know it the next season is coming in.
Thank God for this rain! Things were starting to get very dry around here. Lawn is getting huge dead patches…trees are losing their leaves…etc. It’s getting too dry and it was time for some rain. If we had one day each week like this…we’d be great!
An inch a week would have us about 8 inches above normal for the year and provide just the right amount of water for the ground, crops, water reservoirs, and so on. Plus it would leave a few days to be dry enough to get the yard mowed, lol.
I hope that we get more rain. My palm trees,Banana Trees and Elephant Ears appreciate it along with my other traditional plants. We only got 0.54″ since midnight but it was a nice rain where the ground could suck it in.
Jake
An inch a week in August would likely put us above normal for the month. 😉
Our son was born at the end of July in 2007. It was HOT that week. The following week, first of August, when we got him home…the air temps went over 100 degrees. My home wx station showed a 114 heat index. August 2007 was miserable!!! Looks like Thursday will be our hottest day since then!
I was thrilled yesterday evening between 9-10 PM when approximately 2.3 inches of rain fell here in the Twin Lakes subdivision just north of the Somerset city limits. We have been desert dry the last 6 weeks and my yard was brown. Last week wee got appoximately 1 inch here and the grass got a reprieve, but did not overly get green. Glad we got rain last night as today I received about .2 inches.
Oh, MYYY!!??~ I thought you only liked SEVERE Wx..??! Didn’t think you LIKED WINTER???! (You also do “Belski’s Blog”, too, dontcha??!;))
