Good Saturday gang and welcome to the weekend. It is a weekend that promises to bring some great weather when compared to the past week or so. The timing on the nice stuff couldn’t be better as we look to be heading into a rather wet and stormy period next week.
The showers and thunderstorms Friday were sorely needed for much of the region as we had started to get a tad dry in recent weeks. Of course… several days of 90s will do that! The rains were impressive with local amounts close to three inches in a few cities. We did find our usual “why did the rain miss my house?” areas. That seemed to be centered around the Bowling Green region as they missed out on a lot of the action.
Most of the rains have pushed to our south and east… but there appears to be JUST enough leftover moisture to spit our a stray shower or thundershower today. Here is your regional radar for your tracking needs…
The rest of the forecast gets broken down with the headlines…
– Highs today will generally run in the low and middle 80s with a mix of sun and clouds.
– Sunday will likely be the warmest day of the next several as temps reach the mid to upper 80s for many areas.
– Moisture quickly increases Monday ahead of a slow moving cold front. Showers and thunderstorms will kick in as the day goes on as readings come back down some because of clouds and storms.
– The front looks to stall out across the area into the middle of next week.. if not longer. A ton of moisture will be available for this front to use and showers and storms will be likely for Tuesday and Wednesday and perhaps into Thursday. Locally heavy rains areaย good bet and we may have to watch for some high water issues before all is said and done. The European Model has been most aggressive with this potential while the GFS plays catch up due to convective feedback issues.
– I am seeing more and more of you talking about winter in the comments section. Hmmmm… maybe I should throw out a hint or two about some VERY early thoughts I have. What do you guys think?
Have a great Saturday and take care.
Kick it out there Chris!! I’m ready for a teaser! LOL!
Please no cold winter talk at least until October ๐
I missed most of the rain today because I was asleep…I hope my part of town got good rains…Anyway, YES! Tell us what’s on your mind Chris.
That Christmas in July commercial for HH Gregg has me in the holiday spirit. Spill the beans, Chris!!
I’d also like to mention that I always get nervous during spring storm season because I hate strong winds, but this year there was not a single event that had me nervous. There was one night when a line of storms supposedly had 90 mph winds in Indiana, but it quickly fell apart as it moved our way. So, for the peace of mind given to me this year (so far..knock on wood), Thank You, Mother Nature! ๐
PLEASE put out your early thoughts. i could really use some winter talk.
YES!! Please do, Chris…is there a potential for big snows this winter?
I loved the rain and I am all ears anytime of the year if there is winter talk. So, please do put up some winter teasers!
That storm on the KY/TN border looks interesting. Noticed the SPS for Taylor Co. earlier.
I’ve been dying to see something about a winter forecast!!!!
It’s July. Enjoy summer and leave the winter talk on the shelf for 3 more months.
I would be fine with doing this if summer wasn’t so hot and miserable. I would rather be cool/cold any day.
Jake
If it could be may or september year-round, that would be awesome. Warm days and still cool nights, with the occasional snow or heat wave and storms, heh.
Has anyone been on Diamondback at Kings Island?
yes
Yes! I went last year when I was visiting family up here since I lived in Florida. It is really good and fun. It was long past due though and of course isn’t a number one coaster but probably number one at Kings Island. I am going the 19th and am excited.
